Argentina’s announced Citizenship by Investment Program represents one of the most significant new developments in global mobility in recent years.
As a G20 country with a substantial economy, internationally recognized cities, respected educational institutions, and a well-regarded passport, Argentina presents a markedly different proposition from many established citizenship jurisdictions.
However, prospective applicants and their advisors must distinguish between what has officially been announced, what remains subject to final confirmation, and what families can responsibly begin preparing before applications open.
On Thursday, November 12, Latitude will host a complimentary webinar titled “Argentina Citizenship by Investment Explained: Costs, Family Eligibility and Next Steps.”
The session will examine the announced qualifying routes, family provisions, due-diligence expectations, and anticipated application process. It will also identify the important operational details that remain to be finalized.
The emerging framework currently includes two principal qualifying options:
These routes have very different financial characteristics. A Treasury contribution is non-refundable, while a sovereign bond investment may involve holding requirements, credit exposure, liquidity considerations, and eventual exit arrangements. Further details concerning the bond’s terms and applicable procedures remain subject to official confirmation.
The webinar will explain the fundamental differences between these two options and the questions prospective applicants should consider before deciding which route may be appropriate for their circumstances.
The principal applicant’s spouse and qualifying children are also expected to be eligible under the announced framework.
The anticipated additional Treasury contributions are:
Under this structure, the anticipated Treasury contribution for a family consisting of a principal applicant, spouse, and two children under 18 would be USD 500,000.
Family composition can therefore have a substantial effect on the overall financial requirement. The webinar will examine how the announced provisions may apply to different households and which questions families should address before preparing an application.
Meeting the financial requirement will be only one element of a successful application.
Applicants should expect detailed examination of their identity, criminal history, source of funds, source of wealth, sanctions exposure, political exposure, litigation history, and wider reputational profile. Clear, consistent, and verifiable documentation will be essential.
The panel will discuss the types of records that applicants may eventually need, including civil-status documents, police certificates, financial statements, business records, and evidence explaining how their wealth was accumulated.
Final document lists have not yet been published. Nevertheless, families with a serious interest can begin reviewing their circumstances, identifying potential gaps, and organizing records that are unlikely to change.
Early preparation does not mean transferring funds, purchasing assets, or attempting to submit an application before the formal process exists. Prospective applicants should not rely on unofficial forms or procedures. It means ensuring that potential complications are identified before they create delays once applications can be accepted.
The panel will examine:
The focus will be on clarity and responsible preparation. No application or outcome can be guaranteed, and final operating regulations, documentary requirements, procedures, and commencement arrangements remain subject to official confirmation.
