Anguilla offers one of the Caribbean’s most attractive residence by investment options for individuals and families seeking privacy, lifestyle, tax efficiency, and long-term flexibility in a British Overseas Territory.

The Anguilla Residence by Investment Program allows qualifying applicants to obtain permanent residence through a contribution to the Capital Development Fund or an approved real estate investment. A separate Anguilla High Value Resident route is also available for applicants seeking to establish tax residence in Anguilla.

For internationally mobile investors, entrepreneurs, and families, Anguilla combines a favorable tax environment, no direct taxation, an English-speaking legal system, excellent lifestyle appeal, and access to one of the Caribbean’s most exclusive island communities.

Benefits of Anguilla Residence by Investment

Anguilla has one of the most attractive tax environments in the Caribbean, with no income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, or corporate tax. For individuals with international lives, Anguilla residence or tax residence can form part of a broader wealth, succession, and mobility strategy.

The Anguilla Residence by Investment Program provides qualifying applicants and their families with permanent residence rights in Anguilla. This can create a long-term Caribbean base without requiring applicants to relocate full-time.

Anguilla is a regulated offshore jurisdiction with professional expertise in company management, trusts, estate planning, foundations, captive insurance, mutual funds, and cross-border structuring. This makes it attractive for families and entrepreneurs seeking to protect and transfer wealth across generations.

Anguilla is known for its privacy, low-density luxury, safety, and exceptional natural beauty. Its white sand beaches, calm waters, luxury resorts, and villa communities make it one of the Caribbean’s most desirable places to live or spend extended time.

For applicants who do not wish to relocate immediately, Anguilla permanent residence can provide flexibility. The permanent residence route has no physical presence requirement, allowing successful applicants to use their status as much or as little as they choose.

Permanent residence in Anguilla may provide a pathway to becoming a British Overseas Territories Citizen and, subsequently, to British citizenship, subject to meeting the relevant residence, presence, good character, nationality, and application requirements.

Who Can Get Anguilla Residency

The main applicant must generally:

  • Be over 18 years old
  • Meet due diligence requirements
  • Have a clean criminal record
  • Be of good character
  • Not represent a national security or reputational risk
  • Select and complete one of the qualifying investment or tax residence routes
  • Meet all applicable health, documentation, and government requirements

A spouse over the age of 18 with a clean criminal record may be included in the application, provided they meet the applicable character, health, and due diligence requirements.

Dependent children living in the family home may be included, subject to the relevant requirements.

Program Requirements

To qualify for the Anguilla Residence by Investment Program, applicants must fulfill one of the available routes and meet all other eligibility, due diligence, and documentation requirements.

Option 1: Contribute to the Capital Development Fund

Applicants may make a non-refundable contribution to Anguilla’s Capital Development Fund, which supports public sector projects designed to grow, develop, and diversify Anguilla’s economy.

The minimum contribution is USD 150,000 for a single applicant. An additional contribution of USD 50,000 applies for each dependent included in the application.

Government fees also apply, including application processing and due diligence fees.

Option 2: Buy or Build Approved Real Estate

Applicants may qualify through an approved residential real estate investment in Anguilla.

For a family of up to four, the minimum real estate investment is USD 750,000. Each additional dependent requires an additional investment of USD 100,000. The qualifying property must generally be held for at least five years.

Government fees also apply, including application processing fees, due diligence fees, and real estate permit fees.

Option 3: Establish Tax Residence in Anguilla

The Anguilla High Value Resident route is designed for internationally mobile individuals seeking to establish tax residence in Anguilla.

Applicants must make an annual lump-sum worldwide income tax payment of USD 75,000 to Anguilla’s Inland Revenue Department. They must also own property in Anguilla with a minimum value of USD 400,000, spend at least 45 days per year in Anguilla, and make an annual declaration that they spend less than 183 days per calendar year in any other country.

Applicants must also demonstrate good character and good health, establish genuine links to Anguilla, and pay the required application and due diligence fees.

Other Requirements and Considerations

Applicants must not represent a national security, reputational, or financial risk to Anguilla. Applications may be refused if an applicant is under criminal investigation, fails due diligence, cannot demonstrate good character, or does not provide complete and satisfactory documentation.

Applicants should also seek independent legal and tax advice before establishing residence or tax residence in Anguilla, particularly where they have complex international assets, multiple citizenships, existing tax residence obligations, trusts, companies, or cross-border family structures.

Application Process

  • Month 1

    Client Onboarding

The process begins with Latitude’s initial due diligence and eligibility assessment. This allows us to understand the applicant’s objectives, family composition, background, source of funds, and preferred route.

Following successful screening, we provide a Client Agreement for review and signature. Once the agreement is signed and the retainer is received, our legal and processing teams begin preparing the required government forms and supporting documentation.

If the applicant is pursuing the real estate route, the property selection and purchase process will also begin. Latitude liaises with the relevant property professionals and Select Anguilla, the government-approved agency responsible for processing Anguilla residence by investment applications.

  • Months 1-2

    Application Review and Submission

Before submission, Latitude reviews the application in detail to ensure the file is complete and aligned with Select Anguilla’s requirements.

Our team then submits the application and supporting documents. Select Anguilla undertakes its own due diligence and reviews the application. Throughout this stage, Latitude remains closely involved to respond to any requests and help ensure the process moves as efficiently as possible.

    Approval and Residence Certificate Issuance

Once the application has been reviewed and approved, the applicant must complete the required contribution, investment, or tax payment obligations and pay any applicable government fees.

Following completion of the required steps, the relevant residence certificates are issued for the successful applicant and qualifying family members.
