Introducing Guernsey

Slightly smaller than its sister island Jersey, Guernsey enjoys a similarly high standard of living. A close-knit community, low tax rates and a booming financial services sector give it a healthy economy and make it a superb place to live.

An island where lifestyle comes first

Guernsey residents enjoy one of the highest standards of living in the world. The small population of just 66,000 forms a close community and ensures that crime rates are extremely low, making it an ideal place for families.

Guernsey has its own constitutional government and independence in terms of policy, legislation and taxation. The island is just 50km from France, but its strongest links are with the UK. The Investor Visa Programme is half the cost of the UK or Jersey’s, yet still provides unrestricted access to the UK and and the Republic of Ireland. UK Citizenship, and visa-free access to 173 countries, can be awarded after six years.

Guernsey's economy is dominated by the financial services industry, with an excellent reputation across a range of areas, including the insurance and private equity sectors. The island plays an important role as a conduit for international investment and maintains close links to the City of London, reflected in several flights each day to and from London Gatwick and London City airports.

The island's education system is strong and includes high-performing private schools that take students through to A-levels, with the expectation of continuing on to university either in the UK or further afield.

Guernsey enjoys a temperate climate with cool winters and mild summers. The island is framed by beautiful beaches and whilst the interior measures just 78 sq. km, it is crossed by attractive country lanes that make exploration of the island a real pleasure.
